SmokeShield® Elevator Smoke Curtain
SmokeShield® Elevator is the ideal solution for hoistway smoke containment in multi-floor facilities. Working “behind the scenes,” it quickly and efficiently seals individual elevator door openings, reducing the advancement of smoke and hot gases during a fire. Its transparency allows first responders to identify those at risk, while colorful graphics make for easy, intuitive operation.
Approved for mounting to drywall or masonry construction, SmokeShield® Elevator’s 10-hour battery backup ensures power during an outage, and the curtain can be raised using an ADA-compliant emergency strap located at the bottom. It protects shafts up to 12 feet high and 12 feet wide. With a compact size that occupies less than 10 inches of headroom, it is the smallest containment solution on the market.
The award-winning SmokeShield Elevator complies with IBC 2003-2024 and other standards and criteria including the AC-77 Acceptance Criteria for Hoistway openings. It’s listed under UL1784 and 864, ASTM E84 and the California State Fire Marshal. It also meets UL 325 requirements. Hardwiring enables a direct connection to an emergency power source.

Our smoke containment system is UL-listed to protect shafts to 12 feet high and 12 feet wide. Its compact size takes up less than 10 inches of headroom, making it the smallest containment solution currently on the market.
Usage
This product is only for use in an emergency. The integrated battery has enough capacity to cycle the system for up to 10 hours during a power disruption.
Standard Materials and Finishes
The SmokeShield Elevator comes with extruded aluminum guides with steel brackets, bottom bars, and hoods with a standard RAL 9010 white powder coat finish and RAL 7021 black grey finish.
Operation and Mounting Requirements
Our SmokeShield solution engages when the fire monitoring system sends an alert signal. The curtain-mounted switch reopens the door. A 10-hour battery backup ensures available power during an outage, and the curtain can also lift via an ADA-compliant emergency strap on the bottom.
