CLOPAY GARAGE & ENTRY DOOR BLOG

These Garage Doors are Nice, Nice Baby!

May 06, 2014

OK, we couldn’t resist.

Clopay has been working with 90’s rapper turned renovator Vanilla Ice, a.k.a. Rob Van Winkle, on the past three seasons of “The Vanilla Ice Project”,  which airs on the DIY Network.

When we finally had the opportunity to meet Rob in person at the 2014 International Builders&rs'quo; Show in Las Vegas, Clopay dealer Broten Garage Door Sales had just finished installing Canyon Ridge Collection Limited Edition Series faux wood carriage house style garage doors on his latest Palm Beach project house.

He not only offered up his time to grab a quick selfie with Clopay’s PR manager, he also gave our garage doors a glowing testimonial in true Ice style.

Tune in to watch the garage transformation inside and out Saturday, May 10 at 10:30pm on the DIY Network.

Clopay’s Canyon Ridge Collection carriage house style garage doors look like wood but are constructed of a durable composite material that won't rot, warp or crack. And it can be painted or stained.

Rob chose Mahogany cladding and overlays for the Season 4 project house. The cladding is molded from real wood Mahogany boards to replicate the tight grain and smooth texture. Model shown: Design 12 in a Dark stain finish.

The house is located in Palm Beach, Florida so WindCode reinforcement  is a must. Clopay uses a built-in reinforcement system that is easy to engage in seconds. The struts on this door are designed to handle winds up to 190 mph.

Vanilla Ice and the installation crew from Broten Garage Door Sales.

Clopay’s Canyon Ridge Collection faux wood garage doors offer incredible design versatility to fit many home styles depending on the design, cladding and decorative hardware you choose.

Take a look at the transformation from Season 3 of “The Vanilla Ice Project”. It is also a Canyon Ridge door, but Rob went with a rustic Pecky Cypress cladding with Clear Cypress overlays to match the home’s unique Polynesian theme.
