Clopay Corporation Sponsors Fifth Habitat for Humanity Build in Six Years

Clopay Corporation, North America’s largest residential and commercial garage door manufacturer and a major local employer, is continuing its partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Miami & Shelby Counties, Ohio, with sponsorship of a new home for a local partner family in Sidney. The project marks Clopay’s fifth Habitat home sponsorship in six years.

A groundbreaking ceremony at 899 Hayes St. marked the start of construction on a four-bedroom, two-bath home for Megan Ackley and her five children, who range in age from five to 12.

Clopay is contributing $160,000 in sponsorship funding, along with a custom garage door manufactured at its Troy, Ohio, facility. Clopay employees will also volunteer on site, including helping install the garage door. The partnership also includes Hunter, a fellow brand within the same corporate family, that is donating lighting and ceiling fans to help make the home comfortable and welcoming for the family.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with Habitat and support another local family,” said Victor Weldon, President of Clopay Corporation. “From our sponsorship and products to the time our employees volunteer on site, we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this project and help create a safe, secure place for Megan and her family to call home.”

Ackley, who is currently in management training at Menards in Sidney, applied to Habitat’s home ownership program to provide a larger, more private home for her family. As part of the program, she will complete 200 volunteer hours and, once the home is complete, assume a 30-year, no-interest mortgage.

Local officials, Habitat volunteers, Clopay representatives and the Ackley family joined the groundbreaking celebration. Construction is expected to begin in September, with the home anticipated to be completed in early 2027.
