Clopay® Announces Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) for Impact-Resistant Reserve® Wood Collection Garage Doors

The New American Home Remodel

The number of hurricane-rated Clopay garage doors approved for use in Miami-Dade County, Fla. is growing.

Clopay’s Reserve Wood Collection custom series, Wood Limited Edition Series, and Modern Series Wood overhead sectional garage doors with built-in WindCode® reinforcement and impact-resistant glazing are approved for residential use in Miami-Dade in widths up to 9’ and design pressure ratings up to +47/-55.

Recognized as one of the strictest building codes in the country, Miami-Dade County requires manufacturers to test garage doors to perform under the highest missile impact standard and cyclic pressure.

Impact-rated garage doors and windows are engineered to withstand flying debris and projectiles from hurricane-force winds along with air pressures that can potentially pull the door out of the opening.

Approved Clopay Reserve Wood Collection garage door models with WindCode reinforcement can withstand the direct impact of a 9 lb. 2” x 4” board, traveling at a speed of 50 feet per second (34 mph). The doors also continued to operate under positive and negative wind loads for 9,000 cycles, with the impact creating no hole larger than 1/16 x 5” in the interlayer of the glass.

Impact-resistance combined with a high design pressure rating makes a garage door more resilient before, during, and after a storm.

In addition to the Miami-Dade NOA, select designs and sizes in Clopay’s Reserve Wood Collection line also have Florida Building Code product approvals in sizes from 9’2” up to 16’2” wide.

Clopay has a total of 45 Miami-Dade NOAs. For more information on Clopay WindCode and impact-rated garage doors, visit https://www.clopaydoor.com/residential/windcode-residential-information.
