Clopay Introduces Color Blast^® Paint Guide with LRV Ratings

Clopay is making it easier for customers to choose a custom paint color for their overhead garage doors with the new Sherwin-Williams^® Color Blast Finish Selection Guide, now available online at clopaydoor.com.

The brochure provides a quick visual reference to over 1,500 colors in the Sherwin-Williams palette, along with the 4-digit paint code, the Light Reflective Value (LRV) rating, and whether or not it is approved for use on Clopay’s Coachman^® garage doors.

Light Reflective Value (LRV) measures the amount of light reflected from a painted surface. Dark colors absorb more light and heat, which is why Clopay requires the use of solar reflective paint on doors painted darker colors. The proprietary, “cool paint formula” maintains a lower surface temperature than standard paint.

Color Blast is available on all steel, overlay, and aluminum Clopay residential and commercial sectional doors. LRV limitations only apply to the Coachman model because of its unique construction.

The two-part paint system has been specially formulated and tested for adhesion and stability and meets American Architectural Manufacturing Association 2604 standards. Clopay backs the Color Blast paint finish system with a five-year warranty.
