New Clopay Facebook App Lets Homeowners See and Share Makeover Potential with Their Network .

Shopping for a new garage door can be an overwhelming experience, especially when your home's curb appeal is on the line. For most, the hardest part is visualizing what the door will look like once it’s installed on the actual house. 
Clopay is making the visualization process – and the opinion gathering – easier with a new Facebook application that enables homeowners to upload a digital photo of their home and “try on” a variety of garage door styles to find the perfect match.

“The Door Imagination System Facebook app gives homeowners confidence in their decision by allowing them to try before they buy,” says Pat Lohse, vice president of residential marketing for Clopay Building Products. “And, since the garage door can account for up to 40 percent of a home’s exterior, they have peace of mind knowing that the end result will be exactly what they had envisioned.”

Once users have selected a garage door model, they can customize the design to complement their home by adding different windows, hardware and paint colors. Selected images can then be saved or shared instantly with friends on Facebook.

“Social media has radically changed the way consumers make a purchase decision, whether it’s a pair of shoes, paint colors for a room or a new garage door,” adds Lohse. “Instead of sending links to brochures or websites, homeowners now post pictures of the top choices on their profile page and wait for trusted friends to weigh in with their opinions on the style or even feedback on brand or manufacturer.  Our product is so visual it made sense to put it on Faceook."
