We recently received an email from an architect who told us he was inspired to purchase our Canyon Ridge (5-Layer) carriage house doors after reading this blog from @plankandpillow.

Brooke and Henry selected Canyon Ridge Carriage House 5-Layer Design 12 with REC13 windows in the Walnut stain finish for their custom home build in Tennessee. They originally wanted natural wood doors to match other stained exterior details and were thrilled to learn there was a low-maintenance option that had the beauty and realism of the real thing.

Not only does the Canyon Ridge resist moisture and heat, it is a 5-layer garage door with a 2”-thick polyurethane foam insulated steel frame. 

Keeping warm air in and cold air out of the garage matters more when the garage is attached to the house and there is living space above it. The door has a 20.4 R-value, which is the highest Clopay offers.

Before settling on a design, the couple used our Door Imagination System to upload a rendering of the home and looked at different doors styles. Trying before you buy is a confidence booster, especially on a door that is typically purchased once in a lifetime.

Ironically, the couple considered painting the doors Sherwin Williams “Iron Ore” shortly after they moved in, and took to Instagram to poll their followers on the idea. The result was a resounding “No!” They waited and are happy they did. The Walnut is a great complement and looks stunning against the painted white brick and pink crepe myrtle when it’s in bloom.
