One House, Three Garage Doors

Garage Doors

May 2023

Did you know that we have a tool you can use to see how a new garage door will look on your house before you buy it?

Garage doors take up a lot of real estate, so if you don’t like the style you pick, swapping it out isn’t as easy as repainting a wall color gone wrong.

Our Door Imagination System gives you the confidence to explore some options outside of your comfort zone and try a new style or color. Sometimes a garage door with modern flair looks right at home on a transitional brick exterior.

To show you the difference a garage door can make, we tried three different door styles on this traditional white exterior. Keep reading to see which one the homeowner chose.

The All White Exterior Option

White exteriors are extremely popular but instead of ALL white facades, builders and homeowners are warming it up with wood. On this house, it’s a wood entry door in a natural stain finish. Coachman carriage house doors in white is a safe choice that will blend into the house.

White House, Black Accents

Bridgeport DIS

A white house with black windows and doors is another popular exterior color combination that brings dramatic contrast into the mix. The long panel design with vertical windows on the low-maintenance Bridgeport Steel garage doors mimics the shape of the front door and the windows.

Natural Neutrals

Canyon Ridge DIS

After seeing two garage door color extremes, we are going to try complementing the tone of the garage doors and front door and keep the dark tone on the windows alone. The third option is a Canyon Ridge (five-layer) faux wood door in a simple panel design with rectangular windows. The composite material can be stained in a Medium, Dark or Walnut finish, or primed for a custom color. The white, wood and black work together beautifully.

Pattern Kicks it Up a Notch

Ultimately the homeowner chose a Custom Reserve Wood door in a Chevron pattern. By doing so they were able to perfectly match the species and stain on the natural wood front door and garage doors and get a unique design that none of the neighbors have on their homes.

There are other benefits to the Door Imagination System besides seeing how the door will look on your home. When you finish your design, you will get a summary page with the specs for the exact doors you want. Then you can download a PDF and email it to a Clopay dealer for a quote.
