Reinforced Garage Doors Help Protect Your Home During High Winds

Garage doors play a critical role in protecting your home, especially if you live in a hurricane prone or high wind regions like Florida, Connecticut, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina. If you do not have a tested, wind-rated door, high winds can force it out of the opening, causing an uncontrolled buildup of internal pressure and ultimately a blowout of your home's roof and supporting walls.

Protect Your Home with Clopay WindCode Doors - Hurricane Resistant Garage Doors

WindCode® Garage Door Drawings

Clopay has windload product drawings for each of its Residential and Commerical WindCode® garage door models.

Information about the door sections, horizontal reinforcement, door hardware (e.g. hinges), track, and pressures is included with the windload drawing.

Each drawing also includes information regarding how the jambs are to be attached to ensure that the windload pressure on the garage doors is successfully transmitted to the building's structure. However, a licensed architect or building engineer is responsible for designing the supporting structure to resist windloads - not the garage door installer or garage door manufacturer.
