Love the look of wood but not the upkeep? Clopay’s Ultra-Grain paint finish provides a distinctive and affordable “stained wood look” for homeowners looking for a well insulated steel garage door.
Currently available on the three-layer polyurethane insulated Clopay Gallery® Collection in Medium and Dark Oak, the company is introducing a Walnut finish option to the line-up to complement the deep, rich color that is becoming increasingly popular on entry doors and other exterior stained wood products.
The grain runs in two directions, both horizontally and vertically, following the stiles and rails. This detailing, along with the stucco surface texture on the door, provides a more natural looking appearance.
No special maintenance is required to preserve the finish beyond standard garage door recommendations to wash and rinse the surface periodically.
The Gallery Collection’s signature look consists of both long and short grooved panels constructed from heavy gauge steel. Multiple design combinations are available featuring square, rectangular and arched windows, with or without decorative grilles, and the popular wrought iron designs. Decorative black spade handles, a step plate and outside, keyed lock enhance the vintage appearance.
The Ultra-Grain door models feature a layer of polyurethane insulation foam injected between two layers of heavy gauge steel with a thermal break, providing a 17.2 R-value. Insulated windows are also an option.
Polyurethane insulation delivers twice the thermal performance of polystyrene insulation of the same thickness. It also adds strength and rigidity to the door panels, which helps reduce noise and minimize unsightly dents and dings.
