Clopay Building Products Company is introducing a sliding door system for use on commercial metal and pole buildings, making it the first manufacturer in the overhead door industry to offer a companion sliding door product in addition to its sheet roll-up and overhead doors. The Clopay Sliding Door System is available in two models with a maximum opening size of 52’ x 19’: the standard-duty Model 835 for use on doors weighing up to 400 lbs. (800 lbs. for bi-parting), and the heavy-duty Model 837, which holds doors weighing up to 950 lbs. (1,800 lbs. for bi-parting). The two models differ only in the configuration of their track and carriages. All other components of the doors are the same. Clopay sliding door systems offer several advantages both to the end-user and the installer. The complete frame system arrives pre-cut in standard or custom sizes with all the materials necessary for installation including an 18-gauge high tensile galvanized steel rigid frame that the cladding mounts to, the track on which the door slides, optional nylon or steel roller carriages that allow the door to slide, and necessary pre-engineered hardware. The framing system also includes extra angle braces and vertical push rails to make the door extremely sturdy. Only header bolts, cladding and track flashing are not provided. -more- All carriages for Clopay sliding door systems use a needle-bearing configuration versus a ball bearing, which tends to wear out faster. The needle bears are fully enclosed and self-lubricated for added protection against the environment. The floor guide system is made of durable polycarbonate, so it won’t deform under the weight of heavy equipment driving over it as some steel floor guides do. And its rounded edge design makes it animal friendly. Additional features include an optional locking handle and no hassle repairs – vertical or horizontal frames can be easily replaced by removing a few TEK screws. The Model 837 is available with a fifth-wheel (side thrust) roller to help center the carriage in the track and strengthen the door against wind load and torque.
